For Immediate Release

November 5, 2009 – (Woonsocket, RI – November 5, 2009) – The Plastics Group of America (TPG) has been working since early 2009 with a renowned manufacturer on the development of environmentally-friendly housings and plugs for a proprietary product that it produces. Using materials that once would have simply been relegated to landfills, this manufacturer will be capitalizing upon TPG’s blending expertise to reclaim materials in order to generate its products.

Back in April, company executives initiated preliminary discussions with the Plastics Group; the topic - providing them with a blend of post-consumer waste based resins that they could use in the production of housings and plugs for product. The company was initially seeking a clear resin, but the utilization of post-consumer waste materials made this an unachievable outcome.

TPG ended up producing a proprietary resin that was a blend of post-consumer and post-industrial waste materials. TPG recently shipped the manufacturer an initial order which the company is having independently tested for safety. The lab work will insure the cleanliness of the resins, guaranteeing that there will be no health concerns for any children or adults using the product.

The housings and the plugs will be black while the rest of the product will still be generated from virgin resins in order to be able to provide the same accurate color-matched identification of the product that the company has long been known for.

Many companies have considered instituting a similar program but have been unable to line up a reliable supplier who offers a steady source of post-consumer products like the supply that TPG will be providing to this manufacturer.

TPG anticipates providing the company with 1.5M lbs of feedstock annually beginning in early 2010. TPG’s President, Bob Lebeaux stated “this is a terrific opportunity for both companies. The Plastics Group gets the chance to prove itself to be an ultra-reliable resource for this clean feedstock while this manufacturer proves that it is an environmentally conscientious company.” And because of the extensive testing required for approval, saving the earth, and not saving money, is the main driver behind this project.
